My secret pleasure is a manicure. I love them. Not only is a manicure a thrill of a lifetime, it is also great therapy for the broken soul. If you walk in a salon and you are sad, you will be happy when you walk out again. I promise. If you decide that your living room is your salon and you the only manicurist, then even better! We are the ''do it ourselves'' girls. Gorgeous nails can change your mood daughter of Africa to the South.
Manicures are a work of art, even Leonardo Da Vinci would agree.
When you do your own nails, what to remember
I know you! You are going to decide to skip one or two things because you can’t afford it. Don’t be ashamed of that. You are a great economist and you know what you can get away with. I have done it many times. Some of these nail products are not worth their money or salt. You have done this many times, so I won’t waste my life preaching as if I am Jesus to you. I will just gently remind you of certain ways of buffing, filing and even biting the nail.
Filing
Remove your old polish before you begin. It makes it easier to see what you are doing and how much you are filing that nail.
Never file the nail in a back and forth motion. Instead, go from side to side, in one direction. Filing in all directions will only weaken the nails.
Buff the surface of the fingernail after filing. There is a great buffer now available, which I will share with you in latest trends.
Soften your cuticles by soaking in a small bowl of soapy, warm water or cuticle cream. The jury is still out on this cuticle thing. Can anyone tell me why we have to remove our skin? I often do away with that step and have not harmed my nails as yet.
But, if you have to do the cuticle thing, gently loosen your cuticles with cuticle remover or an orangewood stick.
Another Train of thought about cuticles and one that I agree with
